Thuja is a highly regarded disinfectant and insecticide that should never be ingested because it contains a high concentration of thujone, a neurotoxin. However, when properly diluted, it can be used to disinfect wounds and when rooms are vacant, it can be diffused to cleanse the room after surgery or dressing changes performed on people with infectious conditions. It should not be handled by women who are pregnant.
